SUNY Oswego welcomes a variety of visitors for student activities and other events Oct. 21 to Oct. 23 for the return of Family and Friends Weekend.

Family and Friends Weekend has been a tradition at SUNY Oswego for over two decades. For many students, this event provides the first opportunity to see family and friends since the beginning of the semester. This weekend presents an important opportunity for families and friends to share firsthand in their students' SUNY Oswego experience.

Some of the many highlights will include:

  • A Music Department Concert at noon on Saturday in the Sheldon ballroom
  • A carnival for families and students, featuring games, inflatables, and more from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Swetman Gym (in collaboration with SAPB and the Pride Alliance)
  • Sporting events throughout the weekend including home games for the Laker men's and women's hockey, field hockey, volleyball and women’s soccer
  • A “splash-in” showing of the movie “Encanto” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Lee Hall pool
  • Rice Creek’s annual art auction and activities on Friday (2 to 5 p.m.) and Saturday (1 to 5 p.m.)

A Family and Friends Weekend events calendar details these and many other activities planned.

“Our goal is to truly highlight our Lakers and what they have accomplished on this campus” said Justin Dickerson, director of student orientation and family engagement. “The schedule is full of opportunities for parents and family supporters to see what their Laker has been up to, how they have left their mark on our campus, and just how much we appreciate their contributions to our campus.”
