OSWEGO—Violinist Jon Shallit and pianist Howard Spindler will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3, in SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall ballroom in a recital titled “The Evolution of the Violin and Piano Duo Sonata from the Early Classical Period to the Romantic Period.”

Sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert and Luigi Boccherini will comprise the repertoire for Shallit, concert violinist and professor of music at Oswego, and Spindler, a concert pianist who teaches in the Eastman Community Music School of the University of Rochester.

Composed within a 50-year period that roughly defines the Classic Era in music history, the pieces will include Sonata in B flat major Opus 5 number 1 by Boccherini, Mozart’s Sonata in B flat major K. 378, Schubert’s Sonata in A major D. 547 and Beethoven’s Sonata in C minor Opus 30 No. 2.

Tickets for the recital are $8 ($5 for SUNY Oswego students). They are available at all SUNY Oswego box offices, online at tickets.oswego.edu or by calling 312-2141. Patrons needing assistance should call 312-2141 in advance.

Parking is included in the price of the ticket, and is available in employee and commuter lots adjacent to and across Washington Boulevard from Sheldon Hall.
