A variety of recreational activities, athletic events, nature programs and more invite the community to the SUNY Oswego campus for the Explore Oswego initiative from Dec. 20, 2025, to Jan. 20, 2026.

Known previously as Cruisin' the Campus, the 2025-26 Explore Oswego schedule will include:

  • Rice Creek Field Station activities include a First Day Hike (11 a.m. Jan. 1), a Guided Nature Walk (11 a.m. Dec. 20), Birdwatching for Science (9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Dec. 20), Sustainable Art: Pod Critter Workshops for children (10 a.m. Jan. 3) and adults (1 p.m. Jan. 3)
  • Penfield Library's opportunities for the community to come in and enjoy its extensive resources, including books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, puzzles and more (visitors should call ahead before visiting -- 315-312-2560 -- but hours are tentatively planned for 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 22-24, 26, 29-31 and Jan. 2)
  • Open gym (noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 22-24, 26, 29-31 and Jan. 2) and open swim (12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 22-24, 26, 29-31 and Jan. 2) in Lee Hall
  • Open skate (11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 22, 23 and 26; 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 29 and 30) in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall
  • Open hours in the Shineman Greenhouse (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 27-28, Jan. 2-4)
  • An opening reception for the "My Hometown" exhibition, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in Tyler Art Gallery
  • Oswego County Youth Bureau-sponsored events to include a Dec. 22 Frost and Fun Family Day at Rice Creek; a Dec. 23 sports camp at Swetman Gym; a floor hockey and dodgeball tournament on Dec. 29; and a basketball and kickball tournament on Dec. 30 (more details to come)

Laker student-athletes will be in action with the following home athletics games (details and tickets available via tickets.oswego.edu):

  • Men's hockey (including the Oswego State Hockey Classic -- 7 p.m. vs. Williams on Jan. 2, and 1 and 4 p.m. Jan. 3; 7 p.m. Jan. 9 vs. Morrisville; 7 p.m. Jan. 10 vs. Cortland)
  • Men's basketball (7:30 p.m. Jan. 9 vs. Potsdam; 24 p.m. Jan. 10 vs. Plattsburgh; 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20 vs. Oneonta
