SUNY Oswego will hold its December Commencement on Saturday, December 11, 2021.  On this special day, the college will be holding two in-person Commencement ceremonies -- one for our December 2021 graduates, and a second, separate ceremony to officially confer the degrees upon members of the class of 2020.

DECEMBER COMMENCEMENT
Saturday, December 11, 2021

  • Class of 2020: 9:30 a.m.
  • Class of 2021: 12:30 p.m.

As shared in an email to the campus community, Provost Scott Furlong said, "We look forward to honoring more than 700 graduates on this special day.  Both ceremonies will be filled with the traditional in-person Commencement pomp and circumstance that we have come to look forward to and appreciate even more given what we have all endured the past two years."

Students, faculty and members of the platform party -- dressed in full academic regalia (caps and gowns) -- will process into the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall to the cheers and support of many family and friends in attendance.  Student speakers, honorary degree recipients, and President Stanley will deliver inspiring words of encouragement and support.  And the academic deans will present the candidates for undergraduate and graduate degrees, the post master’s certificate of advanced study, and the graduate certificate – all to be conferred by President Stanley.

To assist students and inform the greater Oswego campus community about the upcoming December Commencement, a new Commencement website was launched and includes a Graduates Checklist – a helpful tool that will assist graduate candidates in preparing for Commencement.  The website also includes cap and gown information, a celebration toolkit for the 2020 and 2021 graduates, and a Guest Information page that details important spectator/ceremony information, health and safety (COVID) guidelines, and a parking/points of entry map.

"In these extraordinary times, it’s more important than ever to celebrate the years of hard work and dedication our graduating Lakers have shown, and to look forward to the bright futures we know they will have," added Provost Furlong.  "I hope you will join me in recognizing their achievements as they cross the stage on Dec. 11."
