Months of work by dozens of SUNY Oswego students to create a holiday TV special will be unveiled at a special viewing party at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the Marano Campus Center auditorium.

The “SUNY Oswego Holiday Television Special” is a 45-minute television variety show in the style of classic shows, such as “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour,” “The Carol Burnett Show,” “The Johnny Carson Show” and “Saturday Night Live,” but with the flavor of the holiday season and the perspective of SUNY Oswego students.

“In a truly interdisciplinary collaboration, more than 45 students from different School of Communication, Media and the Art departments -- music, theater, art, communications -- at SUNY Oswego worked this fall semester under my supervision on the production of this ambitious project,” said Francisco Suarez, a communication studies faculty member and the project’s executive producer.

The viewing party will celebrate the successful conclusion of this project and start the holiday season on a positive and energetic note, Suarez said. The special guest speaker for the night is WCNY’s President and Chief Executive Officer Mitch Gelman. An edited version of the special will air on WCNY at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.

“The student writers and producers would love to opportunity to show the amazing results of their hard work and to talk to you about their learning experience producing this variety television show,” Suarez said.
