Tyler Art Gallery opens its spring 2026 season with a multi-artist show, “She is on Her Way,” running from Jan. 27 to Feb. 26.
An opening reception, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, is free and open to the public, just like the exhibition itself.
Featuring the work of Quinn Alexandria Hunter, Robin Tobias, Mads Leach, and John Michael Byrd, this exhibition takes inspiration from “She is on Her Way,” a poem by Arundhati Roy, which includes the lines: “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.” .
The exhibition features artwork by people, regardless of gender, interested in concepts of femininity -- whether they identify as women, men, trans or non-binary. Each artist delves into what femininity and queerness means to them through their unique and varied media.
This allows for an intersectional approach to feminism, exploring how the connections between race, age, gender dysphoria and queerness impact people across a spectrum of identities.
A series of lectures, all starting at 12:45 p.m. in Tyler Art Gallery, will feature participating artists:
- Thursday Jan. 29: Quinn Alexandria Hunter
- Tuesday Feb. 3: Robin Tobias
- Wednesday Feb. 1: John Michael Byrd
- Wednesday Feb. 25: Mads Leach
Gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sunday. Tyler Art Gallery is closed on Mondays, holidays and when classes are not in session.
Classes and groups may arrange after-hours visitation. Please contact Davana Robedee at davana.robedee@oswego.edu if you are interested in scheduling a class or group visit outside of visiting hours.
