Communication studies professor Ulises A. Mejias continued to share his expertise globally. He published an Italian translation of one of his essays for ”The Florence Papers on AI and Democracy” (PDF). His previous co-authored book “The Costs of Connection” (2018) was translated to Slovenian, and “Data Grab” (2024) was reviewed in Critical Studies in Media Communication, which said “By linking historical colonialism’s legacy to modern digital exploitation, the book offers a vital perspective for the scholars, policymakers, journalists, technologists, and socially engaged readers who would like a better understanding of the cultural and communicative dimensions of inequality in the digital age.” Mejias also participated in the workshop “AI. Culture. Democracy. Now: How the humanities can lead in a time of crisis," organized by the Atlanta Interdisciplinary AI Network. He was interviewed for The World (Public Radio International) and Radio France International, and featured on a Q&A for the website of the American Sociological Association’s Science, Knowledge and Technology (SKAT) Section.
