National Distance Learning Week celebrated

SUNY Oswego is celebrating National Distance Learning Week through Nov. 12 in recognition of the important campus community members who use this flexible avenue to thrive as students.

Alternative Break service opportunities accepting applications

The college's Alternative Break service opportunities in January are now accepting applications, with a Nov. 17 deadline to apply. 
Alternative Breaks are week-long service experiences happening from Jan. 15 to 23, 2022. During that week, participants will travel to different host sites to offer direct service to the community.

The Office of Community services offers two different Alternative Break experiences this winter:

Vacation days accrued extended for employees

November 5, 2021

The annual vacation accrual cap has been extended for all bargaining units and management/confidential employees. Normally, any vacation accruals in excess of 40 days at the close of business on Dec. 31 are forfeited to bring vacation leave credits down to 40 days on Jan. 1. However, unused annual leave can now be carried over for an additional year through Dec. 31, 2022.

These changes will automatically be reflected in the SUNY Time and Attendance system. No action on your part is necessary.

Baskets of Caring open for viewing, voting

Viewing and voting are open for the popular Baskets of Caring event, sponsored by SUNY Oswego's State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign in support of the United Way of Greater Oswego County. 

Baskets of Caring will run virtually via online sales through Friday, Nov. 12. The following week, sales will take place in person on the Marano Campus Center concourse from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 17 and 18.

Thanksgiving Break travel options offered

Students seeking transportation arrangements to and from their Thanksgiving Break destination will have some options to help plan for their departure from and return to campus later this month.

New hours for campus credit union begin this week

Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 3, Compass Federal Credit Union’s SUNY Oswego location inside Marano Campus Center will move to one day of weekly operation, with hours every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This shift in hours is an effort to help maximize Compass staffing moving forward. Any future updates in hours of operation will be posted to the Compass Federal Credit Union website.

SA to host Oz Olympics this spring

SEFA, UP join forces for No-Shave November fundraising

SUNY Oswego's State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign is partnering with University Police to host No-Shave November fundraising to support men's health initiatives.

No-Shave November began as a way to raise funds and awareness for such ailments as testicular and prostate cancers. This national fundraiser has grown such that participants now ask friends and family to donate to sponsor their efforts. The college’s University Police department typically raises several hundred dollars and is a top institutional participant.

Acts sought for SEFA’s inaugural Talent Showcase fundraiser

SUNY Oswego campus community members are invited to perform in the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) campaign’s inaugural Talent Showcase, 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Curtis Manor in Oswego.
