The campus community is invited to celebrate the achievements, leadership and resilience of graduating students at two upcoming affinity celebrations: the Asiwaju Celebration and the Lavender Graduation Celebration, both taking place on Thursday, May 7.

The Asiwaju Celebration, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in 132 Marano Campus Center, stands as a testament to the power of inclusivity, solidarity and the shared journey toward success for students representing the African, Asian, Latin and Native American diasporas, along with their allies. Rooted in the recognition and celebration of diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences, this event honors the vibrant contributions of our campus community.

The Lavender Graduation Celebration, starting at 7:45 p.m. in 114 Marano Campus Center, provides an opportunity for LGBTQ+ students and their allies to come together to acknowledge and celebrate their accomplishments at SUNY Oswego. This meaningful event creates space for graduates to reflect on their journeys, share their hopes for the future, and be recognized for their leadership, success and impact.

These events take place prior to Commencement and do not serve as official graduation or convocation ceremonies.

Organizers invite the campus to honor the diverse identities, experiences and achievements that make the university community stronger.
