A new Employee Gardening Club is forming at SUNY Oswego, offering faculty and staff an opportunity to connect through a shared interest in gardening, plants and nature.

The club was started by Nastia (Ana) Kotliar, a staff member who wanted to create a relaxed space where employees could share gardening experiences, learn from one another and enjoy the simple joy of growing things together. The idea emerged from a desire to bring people across campus together through a hobby that encourages creativity, sustainability and community.

The Employee Gardening Club will focus on informal and enjoyable activities such as seed-starting workshops, DIY garden projects, plant and seed sharing, and discussions about gardening topics including pollinators, soil health and wildlife in the garden. The club welcomes gardeners of all experience levels — including those who have never gardened before but would like to learn.

The goal is to build a friendly community where employees can exchange ideas, share stories, and celebrate the small successes and lessons that come with gardening.

SUNY Oswego faculty and staff interested in joining the club or learning more are encouraged to complete this interest form.

Employees are also welcome to share the invitation with colleagues who may enjoy participating.
