Below are the deadlines and descriptions for several internal funding opportunities available during the spring semester.
Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Grant
Deadline: Monday, Feb. 16, 2026
The Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Grant is designed to provide support (up to $3,000) for faculty and staff in the development of their scholarly and creative activity (SCA) programs to be more competitive in their field (i.e., enhancing the possibility of procuring external grants/contracts). Projects that are expected to result in peer-reviewed output, significant public activities/presentations and/or to have a significant impact on local/campus or national/international community will receive priority.
Student Scholarly and Creative Activity Grant
Deadline: Monday, Feb. 16, 2026
The Graduate and Undergraduate Student Scholarly and Creative Activity Grant (Student SCA) program is designed to support (up to $1,000) and foster graduate and undergraduate student research and original creative work conducted in collaboration with a SUNY Oswego faculty sponsor. Please note: any Student SCA proposal that meets the criteria for the Helen Bohmer Daly Memorial Research Grant will also be considered for more specialized grant offerings.
Faculty-Student Challenge Grant
Deadline: Monday, Feb. 16, 2026
The purpose of the Challenge Grant program is to promote and support (up to $5,000) student/faculty summer scholarly collaborations that ultimately lead to publications, presentations, performances, and/or external grant applications. It is the goal of the program to assist faculty in providing motivated students with high-level scholarly and creative experiences. Successful applicants will be engaged in an ongoing project with one or more students who participate in a direct and meaningful way in faculty scholarly and creative activities. PLEASE NOTE: Due to a limitation of funds, the number of awards for this program will be fewer this academic year.
Curriculum Innovation Grant
Deadline: Monday, March 16, 2026
This program supports the creation of new courses or significant transformations of existing courses to improve the student learning experience. Proposals should address how course innovations serve to enhance the overall quality of curricula, expand student knowledge and skills, support the needs of our increasingly diverse student population, or implement other strategic initiatives, while embedding evidence-based learning practices.
Penfield Library University Impact Collections Grant
Deadline: Friday, Feb. 20, 2026
Grants of up to $500 each will be awarded to faculty and professional staff each spring for the selection of materials supporting professional development, scholarly activity, program/course curriculum needs, or student success. All material will become part of the Penfield Library Collection and receive a bookplate with the awardee's name, department, and the year the grant was issued. All full- and part-time faculty and professional staff are eligible for grants, regardless of whether or not you have received a library grant previously.
