In accordance with Appendix A, Section 1 of the university's Faculty Bylaws, the Personnel Policies Council (PPC) will accept nominations for service on the search committee for the Provost and VP for Academic Affairs. 

Eligibility for faculty and staff to serve is limited to those persons who have served at least one year at Oswego as full-time voting faculty members or full-time professional staff members. 

The composition of the committee is detailed below in accordance with Appendix A. Please be aware that serving on this committee may extend beyond spring 2026 into summer and fall 2026.

Nominations will be accepted until Wednesday, Feb. 4  at 5 p.m. After that time, nominations will be confirmed and ballots sent to the appropriate voting group specified in the bylaws.  

The search committee for the Provost and VP for Academic Affairs, in accordance with  Section I. Formation of the Search Committee, Part H shall consist of: 

(1) three voting faculty from the College of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Engineering and the Library, elected by the voting faculty of CLASE and the Library, with no two members from the same subdivision and no more than one from the Library; 

(2) two voting faculty from the College of Education, Health and Human Services, elected by the college’s voting faculty;

(3) one voting faculty from the College of Business and Entrepreneurship, elected by the college’s voting faculty; 

(4) one voting faculty from the College of Communication, Media and the Arts, elected by the college’s voting faculty;

(5) one member from the professional staff, elected by the membership of professional staff; and 

(6) One student member, selected by the Student Association. Please do not send student nominations to the PPC chair. Interested students should contact sa.president@oswego.edu.

The chief administrative officer shall select a representative to serve as a non-voting liaison officer to provide administrative input on this committee. 

Responsibilities of the committee, from Section II, Appendix A, applies to all administrative searches including this search: 

  1. The chief administrative officer shall present to the committee a job description for the vacant position and shall review with the committee the qualifications for the position and the operating procedures of the committee. 

  2. The committee shall receive and examine all supporting documents and shall interview the best qualified candidates.

  3. A list of final nominees, not in priority order, and their vitae shall also be reported to the faculty. If possible, the committee shall recommend to the chief administrative officer at least two candidates.
