SUNY Oswego's SHOP (Students Helping Oz Peers) is seeking help from the campus community in keeping fellow Lakers warm this winter.
All donations of new and/or gently used jackets, hats, gloves, scarves and more are welcome at SHOP, located in the basement of Penfield Library. With winter and the holiday season approaching, people looking to support this worthy cause while shopping or cleaning out closets are encouraged to donate what they can. SHOP also supplies other essentials like food, toiletries and professional clothing — all for free.
Regular hours during academic periods are Mondays through Thursdays, 1 to 4 p.m., and Friday, 1 to 5 p.m. Visit the SHOP website to learn more.
For more information on monetary donations, please reach out to April Lopez via april.lopez@oswego.edu.
If you are a student looking for winter essentials, please fill out this anonymous survey so SHOP can keep track of what is needed.
Those with an interest in crafting are invited to support the cause as well. SHOP student volunteer Emma Halsey has started a Crafters for a Cause group with friends with a goal of making hats, gloves, and scarves for those in need. More hands helping with crafting and creating are welcome. Email ehalsey@oswego.edu for more information on this project.
