SUNY Oswego invites campus departments, student organizations and community partners to join in shaping the inaugural Spring Family and Friends Weekend, set for April 17 to 19, 2026.

Organized by the Office of Student Orientation and Family Engagement (SOFE), this new weekend experience will offer students and their supporters an opportunity to reconnect mid-semester through campus traditions, innovative programs and collaborative events that highlight the Oswego spirit. This marks the first time SOFE has hosted a spring installment of the popular Family and Friends Weekend, typically held in the fall.

“Spring Family and Friends Weekend presents an exciting opportunity to build something new while deepening engagement with programs our community already loves,” said Justin Dickerson, director of SOFE. “The connections between our Lakers and their supporters is more important than ever, and we hope that this weekend can continue to build on the good work we are able to do every fall.”

SOFE reported that this year’s Fall Family and Friends Weekend had record attendance, with the highest attendance at each of their signature events that they have had in the last five years.

SOFE is currently seeking collaborators to host workshops, performances, tours or other engaging events as part of the weekend schedule. Past spring traditions such as student showcases, athletic events and campus arts programming may be considered for cross-promotion and alignment within the weekend’s offerings.

Those interested in contributing should contact Kate Donaghue, coordinator - student and family transitions by Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 at Kate.Donaghue@Oswego.edu.

With support across campus, the Spring Family and Friends Weekend aims to foster connection, pride and community among students and their supporters—continuing Oswego’s strong tradition of student-centered engagement.
