SUNY Oswego has two annual award categories recognizing outstanding and exemplary service: The President’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service and the President’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service with an Oct. 31 deadline. To be eligible for this award, individuals must have been full-time faculty or staff at SUNY Oswego for at least five consecutive years.
The faculty award recognizes “faculty members who in addition to excellence in teaching and scholarly and creative work serve the college and community in a variety of ways,” while the professional service award recognizes “professional staff members who in addition to excellence in assigned responsibilities serve the college and community in a variety of ways.”
Nominations must come, unsolicited by the nominee, from an individual who is well-acquainted with the candidate’s service excellence. Student nominations are welcomed. Nominators shall submit a letter of nomination to the chairperson of Faculty Assembly, Gwen Kay, by the adjusted deadline of Oct. 31, 2025.
After this nomination deadline, nominators shall also be responsible for requesting and collecting materials from the nominee. The full list of documents is available in the policies linked below. These materials shall be provided to Kay by the adjusted deadline of Dec. 15.
Personnel Policies Council, the committee charged with reviewing materials, shall complete their review and forward recommendations to the President by the adjusted deadline of February 15. This year, the committee has requested that the President complete their review and finalize the list of award winner(s) by March 15.
