In celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, the SUNY Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, in partnership with the Office of Executive Recruitment and Leadership Development, is proud to present a virtual panel, "Breaking Barriers, Building Futures: AANHPI Leadership Across Generations" from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14.

This panel on Zoom will explore the evolving role of AANHPI leaders and students in higher education, highlighting leadership growth, cultural influences and the challenges shaping student success and institutional change. By bridging perspectives across generations, organizers aim to foster meaningful dialogue on leadership, mentorship and the lasting impact of AANHPI voices. The campus community is invited to this insightful conversation.

Christa Grant, SUNY assistant vice chancellor for inclusive excellence and executive director of the AANHPI Leadership Institute, will moderate the event. Panelists will include:

  • Tracy Nguyen, clinical professor and interim vice president, and dean for academic affairs (SUNY College of Optometry) William Doan Nguyen, student at SUNY College of Optometry
  • Trung Nguyen, assistant vice president for student engagement and success (University at Buffalo)
  • Ray Chan, student at University at Buffalo
  • Deven Dindyal, director of financial aid (Fashion Institute of Technology)
  • Phoebe Yoon, student at FIT
