As the campus prepares to celebrate its latest impressive round of graduates during three ceremonies on Saturday, May 16, the Public Ceremonies Committee again seeks volunteer ushers to help ensure a happy day for families and friends in attendance.

Ushers help with overall crowd management and seating people with special needs at the ceremonies in the Marano Campus Center's Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall, but moreover, they help make this joyous day run smoother for the many guests celebrating this important milestone.

Volunteers can work one, two or three ceremonies:

  • The first ceremony for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences begins at 9 a.m., with ushers needed by 7:45 a.m. The ceremony should be done by 11 a.m.
  • The second ceremony for the College of Business and Entrepreneurship begins at 12:30 p.m., with ushers needed by 11:15 p.m. The ceremony should end around 2 to 2:30 p.m.
  • The third ceremony for the College of Communication, Media and the Arts and the College of Education, Health and Human Services begins at 4 p.m., with ushers needed by 2:45 p.m. The ceremony should wrap by 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Complimentary refreshments will be provided throughout the day for volunteers, whether in Marano Campus Center or during hours Cooper Dining Hall is open.

Members of the campus community interested in ushering or with questions about volunteering should email Tim Nekritz of the Public Ceremonies Committee at tim.nekritz@oswego.edu.
