As the campus prepares to celebrate one of the most wonderful days of the year -- December Commencement on Saturday, Dec. 14 -- the Public Ceremonies Committee is seeking volunteer ushers to help ensure a happy day for families and friends in attendance.

Ushers help with overall crowd control and seating people with special needs at the ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m. Dec. 14 in the Marano Campus Center convocation hall and arena -- but moreover they help make this joyous day run smoother for the many guests celebrating this important milestone.

Ushers are asked to arrive by 8:30 a.m. because doors open at 9. The 10 a.m. ceremony is expected to end around noon. The ushers can park in any lot surrounding the Marano Campus Center except Lot E-31 (the lot between Penfield and the Marano Campus Center).

Those volunteering should wear comfortable shoes and nice clothing, and might want to consider dressing in layers. Volunteers will have access to coffee, juice, donuts, bagels and the like in Room 137 of Marano Campus Center.

Members of the campus community interested in ushering or with questions about volunteering should email Tim Nekritz of the Public Ceremonies Committee at tim.nekritz@oswego.edu.
