A pair of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Exhibitions in Tyler Art Gallery will showcase work from graduating SUNY Oswego art students.

The first exhibition will run from April 9 through 21, with an artists’ reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12. The second exhibition will run from April 30 to May 10, with the artists’ reception taking place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

The exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public.

This semester, 31 students from the fine arts, graphic design, illustration and interaction design programs will show their artwork in one of the two shows. A wide range of media exhibited will book arts, graphic design, motion graphics, 3D modeling, animation, Illustration, ceramics, photography, sculpture and video. 

Every semester, students earning a BFA degree must prove their right to the degree by completing and presenting a body of work that serves as a visual thesis. This rite of passage event provides proof to the community that they are emerging from the university as visual art professionals, organizers said.

Tyler Art Gallery is open 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends. It is closed during academic breaks, specifically March 9 to 18 when SUNY Oswego is on spring recess.
