The deadline for nominations for the 2019 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service is fast approaching. Nominations must be received no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018.

This award recognizes consistently superior professional achievement within and beyond the position. Any member of the campus community may nominate a deserving person presently serving in a full-time professional service capacity whose assignment is more than 50 percent in a professional non-teaching status including:                       

  • Academic administration
  • Development & alumni relations
  • Finance and administrative affairs
  • Student affairs & enrollment management
  • Institutional support technologies
  • Research Foundation

All nominees must be individuals of achievement, committed to the State University and its students, respected by the campus community and worthy of emulation by colleagues and students on the home campus and across the entire System.  Additionally, candidates must have completed three academic years of full-time professional service out of the five years (2013-2018) in the position for which they are nominated immediately prior to the year of nomination.

The nomination should be in the form of a letter which briefly describes how the nominee:

  • performed superbly in fulfilling the job description for the position held;
  • demonstrated excellence in professional activities beyond the parameters of the job description; 
  • displayed creativity and innovation;
  • demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to institutional needs.

Consideration will be given to capabilities and accomplishments in the areas of leadership, problem-solving and decision-making. Evidence in this category includes, but is not limited to, professional recognition, initiation of ideas, development of proposals, and committee activities.

Candidates will be notified of their nomination status, as well as documentation needed and deadlines for submission, should they choose to accept the nomination. Nominators will remain anonymous throughout the process.
