Starting on April 3, SUNY Oswego students should have begun receiving the triennial SUNY Satisfaction Survey (SSS), a key tool in evaluating various aspects of campus.

SUNY institutions survey undergraduate students every third year during the spring semesters, with the goal of determining how well campuses serve their undergraduate students and their level of satisfaction. This survey is a prime opportunity for students to use their voices by taking a few minutes to complete.

The goal of the SSS is to evaluate various programs, services and facilities provided to undergraduate students. Campus and system administrators use this information to identify areas of strength as well as those areas that may require additional study or attention.

Student participation in the SSS is voluntary, and the responses to survey questions are not disclosed or used to make any judgments or decisions concerning individual students.

While SUNY’s colleges and universities are highly complex institutions with many varied missions, understanding how undergraduate students view programs, services and facilities is fundamental in evaluating how well the SUNY schools perform their missions.

Further, surveys such as the SSS are essential elements of Middle States’ accreditation standards, and as such, contribute to a climate of continuous improvement. SUNY’s campuses are engaged in a variety of assessment initiatives. The SSS is part of a growing body of information informing these imperatives and establishes benchmarks for charting progress over time. Viewed in this context, the SSS is of high value to decision-makers at all levels.
