With the spring 2026 semester up and running, below are important updates regarding course access, new media tools and reorganized grade schemes to help you manage your digital classroom effectively.
Fall 2025 course access
- Status: Fall 2025 courses are now inactive.
- Instructor control: You may manually reactivate these courses if you wish to keep them available to students.
- Incompletes: Students with "Incomplete" grades retain access to these inactive courses automatically.
New tool: Media Library
The Media Library is a new centralized hub accessible via the gear icon for managing and reusing your digital course assets.
What to store here (for long-term reuse):
- Multimedia: Instructional audio and video files.
- Visuals: Images and graphics.
- Resources: Documents such as PDFs and Word docs.
- Interactive Content: SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) packages.
Important: To ensure optimal system performance, do not store Lecture Capture videos in the Media Library. For more details, refer to the knowledge base article: Course Management: Using the Media Library.
Enhancing engagement with Creator+ and H5P
Creator+ now integrates with H5P.com, making it easier to create and share rich, interactive web content.
- Best uses: Ideal for complex gamification, deep quizzing and media-rich activities like "Find the Hotspot" or "Interactive Video".
- Grading: H5P content is fully gradable and syncs directly with the Brightspace gradebook.
Reorganized grade schemes
To reduce clutter, grade schemes have been moved from the SUNY-wide level to the SUNY Oswego organizational level.
Available Oswego (OSW) Schemes:
- Complete/Incomplete
- Done/Not Done
- Letter v1 & v2
- Pass/Fail
- Unsatisfactory/Satisfactory/Honors
Action required:
- Always select schemes from the top of the "Organization Schemes" list.
- Avoid selecting schemes labeled for other campuses.
- If you need a specific scheme from another campus, please create a copy of it directly within your own course.
Questions? If you need assistance creating course-level grade schemes or have other questions, please contact the CTS Help Desk.
