The Governor’s Office of Employee Relations (GOER) Work Life Services (WLS) will again offer virtual fall/winter 2021 New York State pre-retirement sessions from September to December 2021. Using the WebEx platform, these live sessions are conducted bi-weekly over two days using the agenda below on these available dates.

September: 

  • Webinar Session I: Sept. 14 and15  
  • Webinar Session II: Sept. 28 and 29  

October:

  • Webinar Session I: Oct. 12 and 13
  • Webinar Session II: Oct. 26 and 27

November:

  • Webinar Session I: Nov. 9 and 10  
  • Webinar Session II: Nov. 16 and 17 
  • Webinar Session III: Nov. 30 and Dec. 1  

December:

  • Webinar Session I: Dec. 14 and 15  
  • Webinar Session II: Dec. 28 and 29  

Regular bi-weekly agenda:

Tuesday - Day one

  • 10 to 10:30 a.m.: Overview (GOER-Work-Life Services) 
  • 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: NYS Deferred Compensation Program 
  • 11:30 to 11:45 a.m.: Break 
  • 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.: Pension Benefits 

Wednesday - Day two

  • 10 to 10:15 a.m.: Overview (GOER-Work-Life Services) 
  • 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.: Social Security 
  • 11:15 to 11:30 a.m.: Break 
  • 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Health Insurance (NYSHIP) 

These important and informative webinars will provide the exact same live training as the in-person seminars, including the same valuable information as provided by the same presenters.  

As these are popular events, GOER WLS will enforce attendance rules.  All employees will only be able to attend one complete webinar session, one time in their career. In addition, if live seminars do return, employees who attended these webinars will not be permitted to register and attend the live seminar. 

Eligibility criteria will also apply. One attendance is open to any employee who meets the below criteria:  

  • is at least 50 years of age and  
  • eligible to retire in five years
