SUNY Oswego’s first-ever Women’s Empowerment Summit will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, hosted by Career Services.

The event will feature a variety of panels and workshops, all concluding with a catered networking event for students to mingle with panelists and members of the Oswego campus community. This free event has a menu planned from Auxiliary Services and a distinguished lineup of panelists to network with.

The first 75 people to arrive at the networking event will receive swag bags, which include Brene Brown's "Dare to Lead" book.

The event will begin with a 4 p.m.: Women of Impact panel in 201 Marano Campus Center. This panel will feature a variety of successful guests representing different career communities discussing topics related to cultivating confidence in the workplace, navigating their path to success, strategically connecting with mentors and finding a work/life balance.

Moderated by Oswego alumna Robin Curtis (professional actor known for “Star Trek,” among other roles), panelists will include Jennifer Neuner (deputy director, Everson Museum of Art),  Kristine Whiting (group rental manager, Enterprise Mobility), Chelsea Giovo (investigator, Oswego City Police Department) and SUNY Oswego graduate Adriana Loh (multimedia journalist, Spectrum News).

Following the panel, 30-minute breakout sessions will run from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 6 p.m. in Marano Campus Center, repeating so that guests can attend two sessions. These will include:

  • A Women in Entertainment Panel in Room 201 co-hosted by SUNY Oswego’s Women In Entertainment Club and featuring Oswego alumni Robin Curtis, Christina Galvin (dayside executive producer, NewsChannel 9) and Kayla Skipper (writer, PBS and Moonbug Entertainment)
  • A Know Your Worth: Salary Negotiation Workshop in Room 205, led by Oswego alumna Jackie Wallace (SUNY Oswego Career Services)
  • A Becoming a PowHERhouse Networking Workshop in Room 208, led Kristine Whiting

A catered networking event in the Compass, room 145 in Marano Campus Center, will allow attendees to personally connect with the panelists and other female leaders across SUNY Oswego's campus over hors d'oeuvres and a signature power women mocktail.
