The renovated Hewitt Hall ballroom

The reopening of Hewitt Hall for the fall semester brings a beautiful and vibrant reimagined academic space back to the campus community.

The top priority for the campus is ensuring all classrooms and instructional spaces are fully ready for the first day of classes. Hewitt Hall was designed first and foremost as an academic building, and supporting student learning and teaching excellence remains our primary focus.

Members of the campus community interested in using available spaces within Hewitt Hall may submit requests through the EMS Reservation Portal beginning this month. Please note that the Hewitt Hall Ballroom (pictured above) will be scheduled exclusively by Campus Events and Conference Services (CECS), and will be scheduled per the use priority outlined in the University Facilities Use Policy.

The Hewitt ballroom is a beautiful, well-designed, and highly technical space that in the coming years will provide the university with countless opportunities to host and offer state-of-the-art events and programs. But the ballroom’s successful use requires staff who have been trained on the technical systems and have had opportunities to practice their utilization. Thus during the initial opening of the building, to ensure that events scheduled in the ballroom will be successful, use will be limited.

As the semester progresses, access and use will increase as the CECS team’s capacity to support events expands. The Campus Events and Conference Services team will review all space reservation requests, assess feasibility and, if approved, coordinate all logistics necessary to support the event. For requests that cannot be accommodated in Hewitt at this time, the team will work with event organizers to identify and secure alternative campus spaces whenever possible.

CECS appreciates your patience, enthusiasm and partnership while bringing this exciting new chapter to life. All involved look forward to a successful reopening and an incredible year ahead in Hewitt Hall.
