Dear Members of the SUNY Oswego Campus Community,

In higher education it seems that the only thing that is consistent is that there is always change around the corner. It is with that thought in mind that I let you know that Dean Pam Michel has announced that she will be retiring this summer.

It is difficult to put into words the extent of Pam’s influence on the School of Education during her time at SUNY Oswego and specifically within the Dean’s office. Her efforts leading the School of Education through multiple accreditation efforts, her commitment and work in supporting all of our students and their success, the partnerships and relationships with our external partners, and her ongoing efforts around equity and inclusivity are just a few notable examples of her great work and dedication to SUNY Oswego and its students.

While Pam’s efforts are significant, it is equally important to note and highlight the positive environment she created within the School of Education. Her commitment to the School of Education programs, faculty, staff and students has shined brightly in all of her activities. She was fair, even-keeled, and to me and many others noted for her kindness and good nature.

More information will be forthcoming regarding how we will proceed with a transition in the School of Education.

Please join me in recognizing Pam for her great work at SUNY Oswego and for what I’m sure will be an exciting and productive time as she enters this new phase of her life.

Thank you Pam…and congratulations!

Scott
