"BOUNCE into a Healthier You" is a new weekly behavior change program that will start Feb. 26, geared toward improving participants' knowledge and habits related to all dimensions of wellness. BOUNCE is shorthand for behavior modification, optimizing knowledge, utilizing technology, nutrition, counting steps and eliminating strees.

The program involves:

  • Weekly group meetings with a BOUNCE coach 
  • Regular feedback via text messages from the BOUNCE coach
  • Increased knowledge of proper diet and physical activity to decrease onset of disease and/or 
  • Help in managing weight
  • Behavior change techniques geared toward improving physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, financial, occupational and social wellness
  • Stress management techniques to improve coping skills 


This class will focus on weekly goal setting and motivational interviewing to begin to create healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Classes begin Tuesday, Feb. 26, from noon to 1 p.m. in 212 Park Hall. Cost is $75 for the 12-week program. Participants will receive readings on weight, percentage of body fat and resting metabolic rate. Measurement of blood lipids and glucose is available for an extra $10.

The effort is sponsored by the college's Health Promotion and Wellness Club.
