The first round of the spring BFA (bachelor of fine arts) exhibition is now open in Tyler Art Gallery, with a reception for the artists scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, in the main gallery in Tyler Hall.

The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. The first BFA exhibition will run through April 24. A second exhibition with more of the BFA candidates' work will run May 5 to 15, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on May 8.

This semi-annual exhibition marks a pivotal moment in the careers of Department of Art and Design students as they transition from emerging artists to professional creatives. The BFA exhibitions are a celebration of the students' dedication, creativit, and vision as they make their mark in the art world. This is an opportunity for the campus community to experience the diverse and innovative works that display their unique perspectives.

Throughout the exhibition, each student presents a carefully curated body of work that reflects their artistic journey, demonstrating the culmination of years of study, experimentation and growth. From conceptualization to installation, these soon-to-be graduates take full ownership of their capstone experience: selecting, preparing and designing their displays, while also contributing text and imagery for the exhibition catalog.

Tyler Art Gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The gallery is closed on Mondays, holidays and when classes are not in session).
