The Advisement Center is now hiring Advisement Guides for the 2022-23 academic year. Advisement Guides are peer advisors trained to help students get familiar with campus systems (Degree Works, myOswego), improve their time management skills and connect with campus resources.

Guides take a one-credit upper-division training course their first semester with the Advisement Center. They take another one-credit upper-division course their second semester while completing three office hours per week. Opportunities for internship credit are available as early as their third semester in the program.

Students must meet the following criteria in order to become an Advisement Guide:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate student at SUNY Oswego during both the fall and spring semesters of the upcoming academic year.
  • Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior.
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA.
  • Be knowledgeable about SUNY Oswego.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be self-motivated and have leadership potential.
