Windows 10 Pilot Locations

Campus Technology Services would like to notify you that the classroom and computer lab PCs currently being used in the following locations will be upgraded to the Windows 10 operating system  during Spring Break, March 13-17:

• Lanigan 37C

• Lanigan 104

• Lanigan 105

• Mahar 116

• Mahar 302

• Rich 322

• Park 208

• Penfield Library Instruction room 2 (Classroom 2)

• Penfield Library Lab (North Wall only)

• Shineman 285

We will work with you on any training you may need for this transition.  We also encourage you to save any files you may have stored on these PCs just before spring break as they will be removed as part of the upgrade.

Microsoft released Windows 10 in 2015 and many people are already using Windows 10 at home. Like many other universities, SUNY Oswego is assessing the benefit and compatibility of Windows 10 in our own campus environment. We want to make sure we are offering the most updated and current system to our faculty, staff and students. CTS has been leading a Windows 10 Assessment project which has included both technicians and faculty members. We have been contacting vendors to determine compatibility for more than 100 software titles. In addition CTS has communicated directly with Microsoft and Dell to ensure we are using an industry-approved approach to this movement.
