SUNY Oswego’s “At the Art Studio” workshop series for children and young adults is gearing up for its spring session and registration is underway. The program will run from March 5 to April 16, with time off during Easter weekend.

Meeting on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, students study a wide range of art methods and approaches that are age appropriate and meant to complement the lessons learned in school.

Registration will run to the first day of classes. Registration forms are online at www.attheartstudio.org. They can also be picked up at SUNY Oswego in Room 24H of Hewitt or at Oswego State Downtown on the corner of West First and Bridge streets in Oswego.

As part of the program, students engage in exploration, inquiry and investigation of materials and methods used in making visual artworks. They explore various themes that connect to their communities and what is going on in the world. Students engage in visual interpretation with an emphasis on individuality of expression.

Tuition is $59 for children and young adults in the area from age 7 to 16. Families in need can apply for a financial scholarship or payment plan. To request a financial aid application or to discuss a payment plan, contact the SUNY Oswego art department at 312-2111.

Work produced during the fall and winter programs will be displayed from March 4 to 18 on the wall outside Tyler Art Gallery at Penfield Library on the college campus.
