The work of nine SUNY Oswego bachelor of fine arts degree candidates will greet visitors to Tyler Art Gallery for the fall Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition.

The BFA Exhibition will run Dec. 1 to 15. A free public reception for the student artists will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the gallery and Tyler Hall's lobby.

BFA degree candidates presenting their best-of-portfolio work will include Danielle Benincasa of Utica, graphic design; Sarah Brown of Oswego, graphic design; Lawrence Chiappone of Syracuse, studio art; Rachel Harden of Hopewell Junction, graphic design; Nicole Lightfoot of Bernhards Bay, graphic design; Sara Monroe of East Northport, studio art; Rebecca North of Oswego, studio art; Tyler Rhinehardt of Syracuse, graphic design; and Stephen T. Snider Jr. of Watertown, graphic design.

The exhibition helps students in graphic arts and a variety of studio art disciplines fulfill a requirement for the work they will have completed in the intensive bachelor of fine arts programs at SUNY Oswego. Designed and installed by the students themselves, a diversity of artistic media as well as conceptual approaches will greet visitors.

Tyler Art Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10:30 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. The gallery is closed Mondays, college holidays and SUNY Oswego breaks.

Candidates for the bachelor of arts (BA) degree in art may also take part in an exhibition, set to run Dec. 1 to 15 in Penfield Library. A reception for the BA artists will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the library. For library hours, visit oswego.edu/library/hours.

SUNY Oswego's BFA programs are limited to select students chosen through a separate application process. Students need to demonstrate an aptitude for hard work evidenced by a strong, well-presented portfolio, exemplary academic performance and solid writing skills.
