'Generations VI' to display artwork of college, public school students, teachers

Thirteen candidates for SUNY Oswego master of arts in teaching degrees will display their artwork -- and that of the public school students and teachers they work with -- in an exhibition from Feb. 20 to March 9 in Tyler Art Gallery

The artists' reception for "Generations VI: A Master of Arts in Teaching Exhibition" will take place from [ NOTE: DATE CHANGED ] 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 9 (postponed from 3-2-18) , in Tyler Hall's lobby and adjacent gallery. The event and exhibition are free and open to the public.

The degree candidates, all art educators in training, include Michael Beagle, Mikhael Benson, Jane Conaway, Marie DiLorenzo, Travis Duffy, Kaitlyn Foley, Alexis Froio, Dan Gaylord, Kelly Jackson, Susan Marcus, Carla Senecal, Jennifer Varvaro and Stephanie Zdimal.

Schools with cooperating teachers and students represented in the show are Oswego and Copenhagen high schools; Solvay Middle School; Cole Elementary, Hastings Elementary and Paul V. Moore High schools, all in Central Square Central School District; and Hughes/Syracuse Latin, Huntington, Meacham and Ed Smith elementary schools, all in Syracuse City School District.

The annual exhibition highlighting the art of area children, student teachers in art and their mentor teachers will display works in a variety of media, according to coordinator Jacquelyn Kibbey of the School of Education's curriculum and instruction department.

Tyler Art Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The gallery is closed Mondays, school holidays and school breaks.
