College's 2 BFA exhibitions each to feature the artwork of a dozen artists

The work of 24 SUNY Oswego bachelor of fine arts degree candidates will greet visitors to Tyler Art Gallery for two spring BFA exhibitions.

Spring BFA Exhibition I will run April 14 to 22. A free public reception for the 12 student artists will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, in the gallery and Tyler Hall's lobby.

Degree candidates presenting their best-of-portfolio work will include Zack Anarella, Brandon Barnes, Alyssa Caldwell, Claire Chiarelli, Brian Ewanyk, Alahna Grady, James Herbst-Jones, Chelsea Jodway, Samantha Marti, Matthew Overend, Holly Spiess and Sarah Steinbrenner.

Spring BFA Exhibition II will feature the work of another dozen degree candidates, running May 1 to 10. The free public reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 4.

Featured artists are Megan Barry, Mercedes Buhner, Patrick Casey, Erin Dibenedetto, Sydney Hoefer, Robert Hohman, J.P. La Rosa, Sandy Lee, Haley Noel, Kat Sagrestano, Kyle Tack and Lindsey Ubeda.

The exhibitions help students fulfill a requirement for the work they will have completed in the intensive bachelor of fine arts programs at SUNY Oswego.

Tyler Art Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday.  The gallery is closed Mondays, school holidays and SUNY Oswego breaks.

Candidates for the bachelor of arts degree in art may also take part in an exhibition, set to run May 1 to 10 in Penfield Library. A reception for the arts will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 4. For library hours, visit oswego.edu/library/hours.

Artist receptions -- Student artists and visitors gather last year for a Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition reception. For spring 2018, free public receptions will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday -- on April 20 for Spring BFA Exhibition I and on May 4 for Spring BFA Exhibition II -- in Tyler Art Gallery and the adjacent lobby of Tyler Hall.
