SUNY Oswego University Police issues missing person report

Natalie A. Smith, a VISTA employee (Volunteers in Service to America – a program of the Corporation for National & Community Service’s AmeriCorps) assigned to SUNY Oswego, was reported missing to Oswego State University Police on Friday, June 9.

Smith was last seen traveling in her vehicle (a blue 2006 Chevrolet Impala with New York registration / plate - HNS 4758) eastbound on the New York State Thruway early Monday morning, June 5.  She was in the company of Dennis W. Washington Jr. -- a friend of hers from Fayetteville, North Carolina. Smith's vehicle was located in Brooklyn on June 12.

Oswego State University Police, the New York State Police, along with New York City Police Department (NYPD) detectives, are actively investigating this case.

According to SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley, “Our University Police has been extremely active in following all leads and calling upon all available law enforcement resources to advance the investigation.”  Stanley added, “We are deeply concerned about Natalie; she is a valued and integral member of our campus community.”
