Dear Students,

Thank you all for your efforts this semester to stay safe and strong in protecting yourself and the members of our campus and Oswego communities from COVID-19.  The decisions you have made and your commitment to personal responsibility for testing weekly, wearing masks and following distance guidelines are delivering on a productive spring 2021 semester.  And now, with low incidence of the virus and vaccines becoming available, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As a result, we have been able to open things up a bit in recent weeks.  Turning the Marano Campus Center arena into a temporary fitness center; announcing the return of intercollegiate sports this spring; and developing plans to hold an in-person Commencement this May are just a few notable examples.

Looking ahead to the fall 2021 semester, we are increasingly optimistic about providing our returning students and newly enrolled Lakers with expanded in-person activity.  We are planning for an exciting semester this fall that will allow our students to interact with faculty in more face-to-face classes, experience hands-on internship opportunities, engage with one another in social settings, and participate in clubs, organizations and athletics (including club sports, intramurals and fall intercollegiate competition).

While we are all excited about looking forward, I want to remind you – both residential and off-campus students – to continue to strictly follow your COVID-19 safety efforts in the weeks ahead.  We are at the halfway point of the semester and with warmer weather on the way and a number of holidays on the horizon, it is increasingly important that you all stay focused and continue to make wise choices to finish the semester off strong.

Be well Oswego.  #TogetherOz

Warm regards,

Deborah F. Stanley
