Dear Members of the Campus Community,

The campus has received notification of a statewide energy reduction order, requiring all state facilities to reduce their electric load. This order applies to all facilities in New York State and goes into effect immediately.  THE ELECTRIC ENERGY EMERGENCY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8:00 P.M. TONIGHT, JULY 2, 2018.

Please participate by taking the following actions:
  • Turn off unused appliances (e.g., coffee machines, refrigerators, etc.).
  • Reduce lighting to minimal levels.
  • If possible, close blinds and window coverings.
  • Turn off all lights in unoccupied rooms.
  • Turn off all idle equipment such as printers, copiers, personal computers, monitors, etc.
  • Turn off all unnecessary displays, water fountains and decorative lights.
  •  In buildings where the air conditioning remains on, ensure that all windows, vestibule and exterior doors are tightly closed.
  • Remove all obstructions (plants, books, furnishings, etc.) from heating/cooling vents.
The Facilities Services Maintenance and Operations staff is working to reduce and cycle air conditioning on campus to maintain comfort in occupied spaces to meet our load reduction obligation. Any reduction in lighting, computers, or other appliances by building occupants will make it easier for us to maintain building comfort.

Thank you for your assistance in this energy reduction. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our office at 315-312-3200.
