Dear Members of the SUNY Oswego Campus Community,

Students, although many of you are looking forward to enjoying the summer months and returning to campus for an active, in-person fall semester, we know some of you have already enrolled in summer sessions.  Employees, we are aware that you are beginning to plan for your phased return to campus this June and full return to your offices beginning July 6.

If you are a student or an employee who is planning to be actively engaged and coming to campus this summer, the following items are provided for your reference.

  • Weekly Surveillance Testing Continues / Exemption Provided for Fully Vaccinated Individuals:  Effective immediately, fully vaccinated (two weeks after receiving the second dose or two weeks after receiving a single dose vaccine) students and employees are exempt from mandatory weekly testing upon the submission of documentation (vaccine cards and/or Excelsior Pass) that shows completion of a full vaccination series.  Employees interested in submitting evidence of full vaccination are encouraged to complete a secure Employee Vaccination Verification Form; students should submit their COVID vaccine record within the Medicat Patient Portal.

Mandatory weekly surveillance testing will continue to be required for any person who has a physical presence on campus and who has not been fully vaccinated, or who has not shown proof of vaccination.  Weekly testing is offered in our Lee Hall Testing Center on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from noon to 4 p.m.  Appointments are currently available at tickets.oswego.edu through June 30 so make your appointment today.  Weekly testing is also available in our Syracuse Campus Testing Center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.  Appointments are not required for those testing at the Syracuse campus.  Have questions?  Email covidtesting@oswego.edu.

  • Daily Screening is Still Required for Employees:  Pursuant to the Governor's Office of Employee Relations (GOER), all employees who report to work in-person must continue to submit a daily health screening.  Employees who are working on (coming to) campus should complete their daily health screen via the employee screening app on the Oswego Forward website.  Pursuant to current NYSDOH guidance, students are not required to be screened on a daily basis but will be screened periodically.

  • Social Distancing and Mask Wearing:  All SUNY Oswego employees and students should continue to wear masks (in both indoor and outdoor settings) on state-operated campuses this summer.  In addition, social distancing guidelines (6 foot distancing) are still in place until further notice.  Students must continue to follow social distance (6 foot) guidelines and wear a mask in the classroom this summer.

  • Isolation and Quarantine: Mackin Hall will be dedicated to providing isolation and quarantine rooms this summer for those on-campus students who test positive for COVID-19 or are identified as close contacts of positive COVID-19 cases.

  • Visitors to Campus:  Visitors may come to campus this summer to participate in college-sponsored camps and activities (e.g., admissions-hosted events, Orientations and campus tours).  All visitors will be required to wear masks on state-operated campuses (in both indoor and outdoor settings) and follow social distancing guidelines (6 foot distancing) regardless of vaccination status.

I hope you find this information helpful.  Students, you should direct any questions you have to Health Services at whealth@oswego.edu; employees, you are encouraged to contact hr@oswego.edu.

I wish you a thoroughly enjoyable and productive summer.  Please stay safe and take care.

Warm regards,

Deborah F. Stanley
