NEW Guidelines for Unvaccinated Students & Students w/Approved Exemptions

September 2, 2021 - 4:57pm

Dear Student:

As you may know, we are seeing an increased presence of COVID-19 (Delta variant) on our campus and throughout society in recent weeks. Being unvaccinated puts you at a greater risk for serious illness and SUNY Oswego is committed to providing additional measures to keep you safe. Therefore, the following guidelines are now being put in place (effective immediately) for you—our unvaccinated students, including those with a SUNY Oswego approved medical or religious exemption.

Unvaccinated students, including those with an approved medical or religious exemption, will no longer be allowed to participate in:

  • Intercollegiate Athletics;
  • Club sports, intramurals, campus recreation activities or offerings, access/use of Fitness Centers on campus; and
  • Clubs and organizations that engage in high-impact, high-exertion and/or physical activity (e.g., dance, choir/music, etc.).

Remember, you will continue to have access to your education (classroom instruction, labs, studios and academic settings where your presence is required) and must wear a face mask/covering. We are also encouraging you to:

  • Access your meals and dining via the “Meal to Go” takeout option; and
  • Avoid large crowds and any unnecessary travel.

Additionally, unvaccinated students and those with an approved medical or religious exemption are required to:

  • Mask in both indoor and outdoor spaces, settings and events, including the classroom, at all times;
  • Physically distance wherever practicable; and
  • Be tested for COVID-19 weekly. Schedule your weekly appointment here.

Thank you for your cooperation.
