Small grants program

In 1996, Rice Creek Associates, established a program of small grants in support of research at Rice Creek Field Station.  Most awards will be between $500 and $3,000.  Additional funds in support of living expenses for visiting scholars may be available at the discretion of the RCA Board of Directors.  Grant funds may be used for stipends, travel, supplies, equipment, publication costs or secretarial support necessary to carry out research at the Field Station.  Proposals for the next round of funding will be due by March 15, 2019.  Awards will be announced on or about April 15.  Work can

Physical sciences

Geology, meteorology, hydrology, soil science and astronomy can be investigated at Rice Creek Field Station. Students and faculty from the atmospheric and geological sciences department and the physics department investigate Rice Creek during class and while conducting research.

Biological Sciences

Rice Creek has a rich variety of habitats and inhabitatants. The field station maintains a list of species that have been observed in the area around Rice Creek and Rice Pond from wetlands to upland forests.

Several species have been observed at Rice Creek Field Station.

Exploring Nature

 

Since 1983, Exploring Nature has been an education program designed to encourage young people's curiosity and concern about their world. Participants explore and investigate life around Rice Creek while discovering nature first hand through nature walks, activities and games.
