Statistics BS

Discover the power of data to drive decisions, solve problems and create meaningful change. With a degree in statistics from SUNY Oswego, you'll learn how to transform complex information into insights that shape industries, influence policy and improve lives.

Overview

Statistics is the language of informed decision-making. At SUNY Oswego, the Bachelor of Science in statistics prepares students to collect, analyze and interpret data to solve real-world problems across today’s data-driven economy.

Housed within the Department of Mathematics, the program gives students access to faculty expertise in both statistics and mathematics, allowing them to choose theoretical or applied math courses that strengthen their analytical foundation and support their career goals. Students gain experience with probability, regression, data mining, forecasting and statistical programming while applying those skills to real research and professional settings.

Students learn in a close-knit, supportive environment led by active faculty with terminal degrees who care deeply about mentoring, collaboration and student success. Outside the classroom, community is built through Math Club, Math Tea and department seminars, giving students regular opportunities to connect with peers and faculty.

With hands-on research, interdisciplinary projects and internship opportunities, graduates leave SUNY Oswego prepared for careers in data science, analytics, finance, healthcare and beyond.
