Group Leaders Needed For Fall 2019

Community Services is looking for group leaders for our student run volunteer programs. Group leaders direct a team of volunteers and provide transportation to and from the service site. In return, leaders gain valuable leadership experience, enhance their resume, network with potential employees and learn more about the Oswego community. 

We are accepting group leaders for all of our programs at various times.

Position Description

Supervisors

  • Student Coordinators for corresponding program
  • Community Services Graduate Assistant
  • Community Services Coordinator

Duties

  • Attend weekly scheduled service programs
  • Coordinate transportation to and from the service site for all volunteers. This may include van training, communicating with SUNY Oswego Facilities, filing of T-2 forms (van forms), following all Facilities rules for vehicle usage, or utilizing your personal vehicle
  • Track volunteer attendance and input into team drive
  • Sign off on volunteer service sheets as necessary
  • Communicate with the host site contact regarding changing schedules, volunteer performance, and any concerns 
  • Provide a supportive, inclusive atmosphere for volunteers. Lead by example and encourage volunteers to provide the best service possible.
  • Inform student coordinators, graduate assistant, and Community Service coordinator of any changes, issues, or concerns

Periodic Duties

  • Attend bi-semester trainings
  • Refer potential new group leaders to student coordinators
  • Collaborate with Community Service president and student coordinators to purchase items for host site or volunteers
  • Help administer volunteer surveys for program feedback

Specifics

  • Must be comfortable leading a group and working as part of a team
  • Previous experience in corresponding program preferred
