Pharos Printing Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pharos Uniprint?

Pharos Uniprint is a print management system that allows SUNY Oswego employees and students to print to various campus printers from their personal machines. You can print to these printers from your Residence Hall room and/or wirelessly from the campus wireless network.

What will I notice when printing via Pharos?

Pharos will warn you if you are printing to a color printer, or accidentally printing a document several times. A popup will confirm your printing specifications.

 Which operating systems are supported?

Pharos works with the following operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000/XP
  • Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium, Vista Business and Vista Ultimate editions
  • Windows 7
  • Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, and 10.7

How does printing via Pharos work?

Once you have installed the Pharos printing package, you will be able to select the appropriate campus printer from your computer's Print dialog box. Once you issue a print command, a popup will require you to enter your Laker NetID and password. The document will print once you've authenticated correctly.

If you are using the campus wireless network, make sure your laptop has gone through the one-time configuration necessary to use the campus network. Instructions for doing so are available from the CTS wireless network page. You will then be able to print wirelessly using Pharos.
