Program Information

The Zoology degree programs provide students with the opportunity to concentrate in animal biology (also see our Zoo Technology Degree Requirements page). Core courses (College Biology I and II, Genetics and Physiology) provide a foundation for further coursework. They also introduce undecided students to the broad field of animal science so that they may decide with greater confidence which of the two program tracks they will elect to study. The fifth required core course, Seminar, integrates students' previous course experiences and culminates in the preparation of a paper and presentation on a specific zoological subject. The courses required for each program track provide a background for related advanced courses that prepare students for selected careers of postgraduate education in zoological fields.

Potential careers in zoology include teaching and research, medicine and allied health, aquatic technology, environmental technology, ecology, animal behavior, marine biology, or museum work - among the many available.
