Materials Penfield Library doesn't own

Guest borrowers may not use Penfield's Interlibrary Loan system. If you need materials that Penfield Library does not own, we recommend that you ask your public library to help you obtain them.

Fines and Penalties

Your borrowing privileges will be suspended if you have either:

  • any overdue items
  • any unpaid fines or fees

Borrowing privileges may be permanently withdrawn.

In addition to fines on overdue items, you will be billed for lost materials.

  • You will be sent 3 notices for overdue materials.
  • After the third notice, you will be invoiced for lost materials.
  • Lost materials are billed for replacement costs.

Obtaining a Penfield Library Card

  • A valid New York State photo ID is required to obtain a Penfield Library Card.
  • No one else may use your Penfield Library Card.
  • You may renew your card if you remain in good standing (no fines or overdue materials).

Community Members


$5 per year


  • The card is initially issued for three months, with limited borrowing privileges.
    • Up to 5 items may be checked out at once during this time.
  • The card will be extended for an additional nine months with increased privileges (up to 25 items at once) if you remain in good standing with no fines or overdue materials.
