Tekhara is a New York State Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her undergraduate degree from Penn State University and her graduate degree from Syracuse University.  Tekhara joins the counseling team at SUNY Oswego after being a therapist at Syracuse University for the past 5 years providing group and individual therapy, along with providing advocacy and support to students who experienced sexual and/or relationship violence. Prior to working at Syracuse University, she worked in the local Syracuse community at Vera House providing therapy and support to sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, and relationship violence survivors.  Tekhara has a strong passion for social justice and working with underserved and underrepresented populations. Her areas of interest include working with families, race-based trauma, trauma, identity development, social justice education and culturally relevant interventions. 

When Tekhara is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her partner and her cats, Gracie and Amber. She is a lover of video games, traveling, learning about and getting the newest technology, reading and watching the latest Netflix series.
