Student Office of Research and Creative Activities (ORCA) helps students engage in scholarly and creative activities (SCA), provides guidance in obtaining funding for the completion of their projects/activities, and provides funds for travel for presenting/disseminating SCA results.
The Education Abroad Office at SUNY Oswego sends over 400 students per year on more than 100 overseas academic programs to over 30 countries. Roughly 20% of SUNY Oswego students participate in an Education Abroad program at some point during their college studies, making SUNY Oswego one of the leading campuses for study abroad in the SUNY system. Some of these opportunities include credited internship experiences.
The School of Education Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office collaborates with academic faculty, public schools, and community partners to locate authentic rich, engaging and diverse experiences. More than 1200 placements are made in nearly 190 schools and other agencies each academic year. Many of these placements occur in rural, urban, and high-need areas where we have established partnerships.
Our students have the opportunity to intern with the Walt Disney Company through two internship programs.
Students in any major can choose to intern and work at a Disney park through the Disney College Program. Internship opportunities for specific majors also exist through the Disney Professional Internships where students can work for Walt Disney and their subsidiaries.

The SUNY Washington Internship Program is offered through SUNY Brockport and allows students to experience the excitement of our nation’s capital, an ideal location to experience direct involvement in politics and all other professional fields. Students typically work at their internships four days per week, then participate in a seminar class on Fridays, where they engage with speakers on a variety of topics as well as tour places such as the Supreme Court, US Capitol, Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian museums.
Students must complete both Part I & II of the application process.
NSF funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU Sites program. An REU Site consists of a group of ten or so undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Each student is associated with a specific research project, where he/she works closely with the faculty and other researchers. Students are granted stipends and, in many cases, assistance with housing and travel. Undergraduate students supported with NSF funds must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions. An REU Site may be at either a US or foreign location.
The SUNY COIL Global Commons program is a six-week, six-credit (undergraduate credit) program open to any student, from any higher education institution. Students are enrolled in two, 3-credit courses that culminate in storytelling projects completed in small groups in partnership with a community based non-governmental organization. The program cost is equivalent to six credits of tuition
For over 30 years, the Emma Bowen Foundation has been dedicated to the growth and development of students of color pursuing careers in media, entertainment, and technology. In that time, nearly 2,000 aspiring media professionals have received support, guidance, and resources from EBF. Most recently, each summer, we host a class of 150 new and returning EBF Fellows who intern at our partners that summer. Fellows are resourceful, reliable team players who are committed to their professional development and to making an impact during their internships and beyond.

Students seeking a Fulbright US Student Award for the year following graduation will make their application in the fall of their senior year. They should meet with the Fulbright Advisor during spring semester of their junior year in order to learn about preparing an application.
