About AlcoholEDU

AlcoholEdu for College is an online alcohol education course required for all first-year students at SUNY Oswego. Alcohol Edu incorporates evidence-based methods to empower students to make well-informed decisions that will contribute to a safe campus environment for all.  It includes instant feedback, video clips, and comparisons to other college students.Part 1 of AlcoholEDU takes about 90 minutes to complete and can be taken on any computer that has audio capabilities and is connected to the Internet. You are able to save your progress so you don’t need to complete the course all at once. Part 2 which will be sent approximately 30 days after part one, takes about 15 minutes to complete. 

Accessing AlcoholEDU

1: You will receive notification of Alcohol EDU assignment to your college email. It will come from SUNY Oswego with the subject line “Online Course Assigned to You by SUNY Oswego”

Step 2: Open the email and click the button prompting to start the course

Step 3: The link will have you complete the registration with your student information through single sign on.

Step 4: After you complete registration through the email, you will be able to access the course by clicking the “Take the AlcoholEDU course” button.

Who is required to take the course?

All incoming undergraduate students, under the age of 21 as of August 1st of the academic year, are required to complete AlcoholEdu for College Students. If you do not complete this requirement, you may not be able to register for future classes.

How long does it take?

AlcoholEdu takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes for Part 1. Part 2 will become available 30 days after completion of Part 1 and typically takes about 15 minutes.

Are my answers private and confidential?

Yes, all survey responses are strictly confidential. SUNY Oswego will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see individual student answers. You can feel confident that providing truthful answers—no matter what they are—will not put you at any risk for repercussions.

What id I do not pass the exam?

All students must earn a grade of 70% or higher in the exam to successfully complete Part 1. If a student fails the exam they will have another option to complete the quiz. Students may complete the course as many times as needed to pass the final exam.

What is the deadline for completion?

The deadline for completion of Part 1 is August 28, 2022.  The deadline for Part 2 is October 14, 2022.

I am having issues with the course, what should I do?

  • Try an alternate browser. Chrome or Firefox is preferred over Internet Explorer or other web browsers.Refresh the screen 2 to 3 times from within the course.
  • Close all browser windows, and try logging into the course again.
  • If you experience other technical difficulties, the AlcoholEdu Online Technical Support Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For support, click the "Help" button in any active window in AlcoholEdu, call 866-384-9062, OR email [email protected].
