Dr. Scott Furlong, Provost, Vice President for Academic Affairs
At Oswego since July 10, Dr. Furlong oversees instructional and academic programs including those offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Education, the School of Communication, Media and the Arts and the Office of Extended Learning. The Provost also oversees the Office of Graduate Studies, Office of International Education and Programs, Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, Office of Research and Administration, Office of Learning Support Services, and Penfield Library.
Rameen Mohammadi, Associate Provost for Undergraduate and Special Programs
The Office of the Associate Provost is responsible for a number of services related to the academic mission of the university. These include registration, professional development opportunities for faculty, the Honors Program, and other important initiatives in undergraduate education. The associate provost works closely with the Office of Student Affairs to support first-year activities designed to address special academic and social needs of freshmen and transfer students.
This office is responsible for approving and registering new curricular programs with the State University of New York System Administration, and working with other SUNY units to develop transfer articulation agreements, cooperative ventures and collaborations as the opportunity arises to do so. The associate provost oversees the Office of the Registrar and participates in planning and implementation of new student orientation programs and enrollment registration.
William Bowers, Associate Provost for Research and Administration
The Office of the Associate Provost for Research and Administration oversees the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) which works with faculty and staff to solicit and administer external grants and promote scholarly and creative activity among faculty and students. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is responsible for the development, coordination and financial management of all contracts and grants at the college. All externally sponsored projects for research, scholarly and creative services utilizing SUNY Oswego facilities and/or personnel must be processed and administered through ORSP.
A project is externally sponsored if a grant or contract is awarded to the College in support of a specific activity. External sponsors consist of federal and state agencies, private foundations, professional organizations, and business. Sponsored projects include, but are not limited to research, scholarly and creative activities, curriculum development and workshops or meetings.
