Campus Responsibilities

Training

Employees, students, and volunteers who will be responsible for the custody, control and supervision of children during a Covered Activity are required to complete the necessary training prior to the start of the scheduled program.

Sex Offender Searches

Those who will be responsible for the custody, control and supervision of children during a Covered Activity are required to be vetted through the NY State and National Sex Offender Registry prior to the scheduled activity.

  • Sex offender registry searches ARE NOT criminal background checks
  • Sex offender registry websites ARE available to the public
  • CONSENT of Covered Persons IS NOT REQUIRED to perform a search
  • If a sex offender registry search yields a positive result, the “Covered Person” CANNOT participate in a “Covered Activity”
  • Sex Offender Registry searches must be conducted NOT MORE THAN ninety (90) days before  the commencement of a Covered Activity to assure that the results yield current information

Information required for sex offender searches include:

  • First Name
  • Middle Initial
  • Last Name
  • Date of Birth

For all College sponsored youth programs, sex offender searches are completed by the Department of Human Resources prior to the scheduled program.

Identification for Covered Persons

Covered Persons must wear and display prominently at all times during the Covered Activity an ID badge that identifies the individual as a Covered Person in the program or activity.

ID badges are event specific and include:

  • Covered Persons Full Name
  • Title
  • Name of Program
  • Date(s) of Program
  • Current photo

At the conclusion of the event, ID badges should be destroyed and/or returned to the Child Protection Compliance Administrator as ID badges are event specific.
